Purses, Chocolate and Gift Cards....Oh My!

OOPS! Design Studio LINK FIXED!
My friends all know that I have an addiction to purses.  It's so bad that DH outfitted the hall closet with shelves just for my purse collection.  To make matters worse, my daughter works for Coach (my FAVORITE brand of purses), and had an internship at Coach headquarters in Manhattan over the summer.  I was insanely jealous!  The little enabler even sent me "secret" pictures all summer long of new designs that hadn't even hit the market yet.  But I digress...

My love of purses was my inspiration for this little lovely.  I wanted something pretty and unique that I could use to present giftcards to my friends and nieces of all ages.  I feel like giving just a gift card is a bit boring, so I try to always give a little something else, too.  What's better than chocolate??  I think no matter what age a girl is, she loves purses, chocolate and shopping, so I made a purse to hold a Ghirardelli candy bar with a pocket on the front for the gift card.  If you need an more inexpensive little gift, just include the candy bar and use the pouch for a handwritten note.  I've included a little note card within the .cut file.

What I really love about this project is that it can be made cute for a little girl or sophisticated for an adult.  It would also make a great Valentine for someone special!

The only cartridge needed for this project is George and Basic Shapes.

I love this file! However, when I click the link to Box it says the file has been removed. I'd love to have it.

Thanks for making great files!

I absolutely love this idea for a gift card. My husband's goddaughters are now grown up but I like to still give them a little something for their birthdays (usually a gift card to Starbucks or Panera). This will make it special. Thank you for including the file for a Gypsy. Since I use MACs I can't use Design Studio.

Love your site and thank you so much for sharing with us less talented Cricut owners.

This is so cute. I love it. I am addicted to purses too. It has gotten to the point that my DH said I had to get rid of one before I was allowed to buy another. I have outgrown my closet. LOL

Cindy, this is the cutest purse!

And, I'm so sorry someone did such an awful thing to you. For some people, it'snot enough that you inspire and share your hard work. It's sad there are people like that in our nice little "world" here.

I'll be seeing you!

I am so glad that you tend to use cartridges that most of us have. I do not have a lot of the really new ones. Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing this super cute candy bar purse. I just made one thinking it would fit my Hersheys Symphony candy bar, but it was a little short, :-( Is there any way I can use this same pattern and make it 3/4 inch wider??

I have been gathering some projects to learn to use my cricut "beyond" the cartridges, but this is bar none the cutest project I've ever seen! I want to make it [as first project] and send to my DD that is currently spending Valentines Day in Afghanistan. My sweet little soldier will love this... thanks for motivating me!

Paula, by all means give it a try making it larger. If you have trouble, email me and I'll try to help. You didn't leave me a way to contact you.

Hello! I came over to your blog for the first time after seeing your post on the cricut yahoo group. I'm sorry someone wounded you like this and GOOD for you for sticking up for yourself, morally and leagally. Anyway, came over to read about what happened and fell in love with this project! My sister's birthday is next week and this will be the perfect card. Thank you for sharing! I'm a beginner (opened a blog have yet to post!) and I really respect the work and creativity you experienced bloggers share. Merci!-Deborah

Cindy, I love your file. Came across it after reading your post on the SureCutsALot group on yahoo. There is not .svg or .scal version however. Is there a way that I can convert your DS or Gypsy version to use with SCAL2? I have inkscape and even the Adobe Creative Suite but am a newbie to things like this. Thanks so much for your time!!!

Cindy McVey said...

Andrea, I have SCAL2 myself, and I do use Inkscape, but I haven't delved into converting these files to SCAL yet because the process is very different. I can design it in Design Studio and easily convert to Gypsy to get both of those versions. I would have to basically create it from scratch in SCAL. I do plan to do some of them in SCAL, I just haven't had the time to tackle that yet. Keep watching - we're supposed to get another 12" or more of snow this weekend, on top of the 12 we just had, so I may be stuck inside with LOTS of time on my hands!

Andrea said...

Thanks for letting me know Cindy. I'll keep checking. When you figure it out, you can teach the rest of us :) Good luck with that snow!
